Senator Haywood is organizing the first inaugural Youth Power Summit on Saturday, October 28th from 9:00am - 12:30pm at Martin Luther King High School. This event, in collaboration with community partners, aims to empower and amplify the voices of young leaders. The summit marks the first of its kind within the MLK High School community, bringing together young leaders for hands -on workshops led by community partners. Topics including Building a Business, Mental Health, Fitness/Sports, Youth Voice in Media and much more!

On November 16th, Senators Dillon, Kane, Haywood, and Muth will convene a comprehensive policy hearing to explore the potential impacts of Generative Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) on the future of the Commonwealth. With generative A.I.’s rapid advancement, this hearing aims to address growing societal concerns regarding its effects on the workforce, technology, and healthcare. The Senators plan to gather and analyze evidence-based insights to better understand the possible repercussions of generative A.I. They will also deliberate on policy solutions that best mitigate risks such as fraud and misuse associated with this technology.

Senator Haywood presents a Virtual Financial Aid Workshop - Paying for College: FAFSA Overview - with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A PHEAA representative will provide students in grades 9-12 and their families with information on financing college and applying for financial aid. This event is open to all students, parents, and guardians.

The District-4 Human Dignity Poetry Prize will be awarded to a resident within the district who creates an exceptional poem on the meaning of human dignity. As a component of our Dignity Agenda, the Poetry Prize will highlight perspectives of “dignity,” identity, and community through our neighbors. The deadline for submission is August 7th.
