Every neighbor deserves access to affordable, nutritious foods that keep their families healthy. When we fuel our bodies, we fuel our minds. That’s why I’m partnering with State Representative Andre D. Carroll for a free food giveaway next week.

On Tuesday, September 8th at 10am, our teams will distribute free produce and goods on a first-come, first-served basis. We will also be giving away free school supplies for grades K-12 so our students can be better prepared heading into the new school year.

Gas, groceries, rent, healthcare—the cost of living continues to soar across our Commonwealth. Hardworking neighbors should not have to work two to three jobs to keep the lights on in their home or put food on the table for their children. That’s why my Economic Bill of Rights calls for the right to a family-sustaining job. This means fair pay, predictable schedules, paid time off, safe working conditions, affordable benefits, and the ability to retire with dignity.

Our neighbors need jobs that provide them with security and stability. You can find some of these jobs at my Hiring and Resource Fair on Wednesday, September 16th at the Pennsylvania Career Link Center in Northwest Philadelphia. With the help of Representatives Andre D. Caroll and Darisha Parker, numerous employers will be on-site at the fair to connect with interested neighbors.

Dress to impress! Bring copies of your resume and be prepared to discuss your past experiences, interests, and goals in the workforce.

On October 12^th, we will mark one year of being on vigil at the Philadelphia ICE Field Office every Monday. Week after week, the clergy and I have demanded the dignified treatment of our immigrant neighbors. We have been on vigil to expose ICE brutality to the public and offer a call to conscience for ICE agents in the Philadelphia Field Office and across the nation.

Please join the clergy and me on October 12^th at 11:00 AM as we continue to stand united against ICE cruelty. We will rally at Philadelphia’s Immigration Court at 11:00am and march to Philadelphia’s ICE field office after hearing from local leaders and advocates. At the Philadelphia ICE Field Office, we will be on vigil to demand dignity for all.
