Philadelphia & Montgomery County, PADecember 19, 2025Art Haywood (D-Montgomery/Philadelphia) today announced more than $4.19 million in state grant funding awarded to projects across the 4th Senate District. The funding will support green space improvements, community development planning, public safety infrastructure, workforce and higher education, health care access, and services for vulnerable populations.

Environmental, Climate, and Green Space Investments
Through Pennsylvania Community and Economic Development grants focused on climate sustainability and green space, the following projects received funding:

  • $100,000 – Jenkintown Education Foundation – Legacy Park Stormwater Improvements
  • $63,070 – Cheltenham Township – Parkview Park Greenway Master Plan
  • $11,916 – Germantown United CDC – Pickett Plaza Greenspace Conversion
  • $50,000 – Manor College – Manor College Nature Trail
  • $47,305 – Mt. Airy Business Improvement District – Pocket Park at Carpenter Lane

Total green space investment: $272,291

Local Share Account (LSA) Grants

Additional funding through the Local Share Account program will support major community infrastructure and service projects, including:

  • $56,250 – Cheltenham Township – Elkins Central Commercial Corridor Planning Project
  • $900,000 – Cheltenham Township – La Mott Community Center Renovation
  • $850,000 – La Mott Fire Company (via Cheltenham Township) – Firehouse Addition and Renovation
  • $248,500 – Penn State Abington – Cybersecurity Analytics Lab Expansion
  • $625,123 – Manor College – Dental Health Center Expansion
  • $400,000 – Chestnut Hill Hospital Community Health – Women’s Health and Mammography Equipment
  • $737,720 – Covenant House Pennsylvania – Safe Haven Shelter Renovations
  • $100,000 – Why Not Prosper – Rolling Engagement Van for reentry services

Total LSA investment: $3,917,593

“These projects reflect what it looks like to govern with dignity,” Haywood added. “They support students preparing for the workforce, seniors and families accessing health care, first responders protecting our neighborhoods, and organizations meeting people where they are with care and compassion.”
