Philadelphia, PA — Today, State Senator Art Haywood released the following statement on the murder of Renee Good by ICE agents on January 7, 2026.

“I condemn the brutal shooting and killing of Renee Good by ICE at a stop in Minneapolis on January 7. Indiscriminate ICE raids do not make communities safer. These raids terrorize our neighborhoods, erode trust, and violate our shared dignity.

Those responsible must be held fully accountable. No officer exercising the power of the state should be permitted to mask their identity, and Pennsylvania must end all local cooperation with ICE.

That is why I have proposed legislation to protect local law enforcement from federal takeover, co-sponsored legislation prohibiting the use of masked law enforcement tactics, and plan to introduce legislation to ban indiscriminate raids within the Commonwealth.”
