2023 MLK Day of Action: How to Run for Elected Office
On Monday, January 16, 2023, Senator Art Haywood and Dr. Damary Bonilla-Rodriguez, School Board Director of the East Stroudsburg Area School District, presented a MLK Day of Action: Virtual Advocacy Training. Participates learned how to run for elected office and make positive changes in your community. Event partners included Committee of 70 and the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs. Panelists include Shameeka Browne, Julie Haywood, Dr. Tyler Titus, and Justin Villere.
How to Run for School Boards
On Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 7 to 8 p.m., Senator Art Haywood and Dr. Damary Bonilla-Rodriguez, School Board Director of the East Stroudsburg Area School District, presented a virtual advocacy training on how to run for school boards in PA and make positive changes in your community. Event partners included Committee of 70, the Governor’s Commission on African American Affairs, the Governor’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs, and Latino Victory Project. Panelists included: Julie Haywood, LaDeshia Maxwell, Stephanie Sun, Dr. Tyler Titus, and Justin Villere. Senator Haywood and Dr. Bonilla-Rodriguez are committed to diversifying Pennsylvania School Boards to ensure equitable policies in school districts and communities across the Commonwealth. Napoleon Nelson, Arcadia University, and One PA, presented a MLK Day of Action: Virtual Advocacy Training to discuss How Elections Address Systemic Racism.
