Our Solutions—Raising the Wage
MLK Day of Action
Over 50 neighbors joined Pastors Matthies and Holston, Congressman Evans, State Rep. Rabb, State Rep. Kenyatta, Councilwoman Gym, John Meyerson, Terrence Wiggins and me on MLK Day at McDonald’s on 29 E. Chelten Avenue in Germantown to demand that they raise the minimum pay to $15 per hour. We rallied in 12-degree weather for our hardworking neighbors who reportedly earn as little as $7.25 per hour—poverty pay. Following the rally, I met with a McDonald’s representative in Harrisburg to start a discussion on changes. Please join me to make McDonald’s end poverty pay. |
GVP Policy Hearing
We can reduce gun violence. Please attend a Senate Democratic Policy hearing on Reducing Gun Violence with State Senator Lisa Boscola and me on 14 February to listen to our neighbors, activists, and experts from around the U.S. offer solutions to reduce gun violence. The hearing is at La Salle University, Union Building, Dunleavy Room from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Budget Address
Governor Wolf announced his priorities for 2019-20 fiscal year during his budget address in Harrisburg on 5 February. Raising the minimum wage to $12 now, creating stronger educational opportunities, and building the strongest workforce in the nation are among his priorities.
The Governor Wolf budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year is a good start.
