Our Solutions: Shop Local
This holiday season consider buying clothing, jewelry, or gifts from local stores for your family and friends. When you shop in the neighborhood, you help local businesses thrive. Local spending puts money into the neighborhood’s economy for jobs. Also, when buying from any store, please ask if they are paying their employees a living wage. We must hold businesses accountable for paying a decent wage. |

Reimagining Hospital Care

In response to the recent closing of Hahnemann Hospital, my office will host a listening session on reimagining hospital care. Participants, including the PA Department of Health, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Drexel University and La Salle School of Nursing, will discuss how we can address hospital closures. The session is on Wednesday, 18 December from 9-11:00 a.m. at La Salle University. Please attend to learn about improving the process for hospital closure notices, achieving new urgent care solutions and more.

The People’s Budget

It’s time to invest in education, infrastructure and protecting the environment in Pennsylvania. We need a People’s Budget that benefits everyday people.
Currently, our state loses $3 billion every year by not taxing the rich fairly, by failing to impose a severance tax on natural gas, and by spending too much on tax credits that benefit corporations and wealthy families. The People’s Budget captures the $3 billion and applies it toward lowering student loan debt, fairly funding our schools, investing in infrastructure that will make travel easier and the internet more readily available for everyone, providing property tax relief for senior citizens, and much more. Please share “The People’s Budget” with your friends and neighbors, so that we can make Pennsylvania work for all. It can be found on my website at www.SenatorHaywood.com.
The People’s Budget is the first initiative my office will be undertaking from our “Year of Justice 2020” agenda.

Want to get more involved? The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people to work on the 2020 Census count. Workers hired in our area will earn anywhere from $16.50 to $27.00 per hour. Call 1-855-562-2020 for more information.
