Civic Bootcamp 2022
Week 1 – Stretching the Personal to the Political – Oct. 18
- Workshop with Amy Widestrom, PhD, Chair of the Department of Historical & Political Studies and Associate Professor of Political Science at Arcadia University
- Host will help neighbors identify one or more issues to exercise their civic muscles in subsequent workshops
Week 2 – Exercising your Power in Government – Oct. 25
- Workshop with State Senator Art Haywood
- Host will educate neighbors on the roles of each level of government
Week 3 – Flexing Your Civic Muscle through Community – Nov. 1
- Workshop with Alison LaLond Wyant, Ed.D., Executive Director, Arcadia University Division of Civic & Global Engagement
- Host will provide neighbors with three tactics to find community around issues they care about
Week 4 – Coalition Building to Strengthen Civic Capacity – Nov. 9
- Workshop with Lauren Cristella, Chief Program Officer, Committee of Seventy and Justin Villere, Civic Engagement Program Manager, Committee of Seventy
- Host will educate neighbors on why coalitions are necessary to drive change
Week 5 – A Case in Review: Children First PA – Nov. 15
- Workshop with Donna Cooper, Executive Director at Children First PA
- Host will help neighbors connect the dots between issues they care about and teach neighbors how to take action on those issues, based on the advice and guidance presented in the series.
